Big numbers and symbols

If you want to get rich and make a lot of money, it would make sense for you to learn how to write and talk about big numbers. If you are a communist, skip this whole section.

Remember that in English we use commas, not periods, to write big numbers.
100 – one hundred
101 – one hundred and one (or) one hundred one
1,000 – one thousand
100,000 – one hundred thousand

135,000 – one hundred and thirty-five thousand (or) one hundred thirty-five thousand. The “and” is optional.

1,000,000 – one million
1,000,000,000 – one billion
1,000,000,000,000 – one trillion

Before you get super rich, you have to count the smaller numbers.
We use dashes to write numbers larger than twenty.

21 is written twenty-one.
67 is written sixty-seven.

Another fun difference between English and Italian, is that decimals use periods instead of commas.

The decimal 2.75 is pronounced, “two point seven five.”

After you make your first $500,000 you might want to speak about your money using cardinal and ordinal numbers.

I made my first five hundred thousand dollars from my start up company. My second half of a million dollars will come from investors.

First, second, third, fourth, fifth etc. are ordinal numbers. Learn the whole list, which you can find linked here below.
